In a Press Release that was extended to The Nile chronicle, the National Salvation Front (NAS) brought to the public notice a series of clashes with government forces in the past 48 hours or so.
On Wednesday the 5th of August 2020, NAS forces launched a counter attack on the South Sudan People’s Defence Force (SSPDF) forward tactical operation base of the Tiger Division at Gorom Payam, a suburb of the capital Juba which is only 15 miles from the centre of the city. 11 soldiers were killed and more than 7 others wounded. Only three NAS soldiers suffered gun wounds.
Meanwhile, there is ongoing military offensive by the SSPDF on NAS positions in Mundri, according to the press release. NAS also said that the SSPDF had carried out attacks on innocent civilians, looting properties and burning homes as it accuses them of sympathising with NAS.
Furthermore, the Press Release stated that in Bazi, Morobo County, the SSPDF resorted to looting cattle, goats and plundering villages along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
